London Recommendations

Hi,

Can you folk recommend any good locations in London for a few hours where I can snap away. I'am looking to step away from the normal tourist stuff. I've heard the new Kings Cross Train station roof makes a stunning photograph. anywhere else?

Getting around isn't a problem.

As more ideas come to me I'll post, but the first place that springs to mind is Spitalfields Market area for street photography. You need a permit to actually shoot inside the market but just email nicely and they'll sort you out. However Spitalfields leads into the back streets around Brick Lane etc. Very fertile shooting ground!

Also, it's sort of touristy, but Soho can often provide very eclectic subject matter too.

Did you shoot with a tripod in Kings Cross??

This is a shot I snapped with my phone. I did try something more considered with my camera and the 10-22 lens but not with a tripod. It would probably benefit but the result I got with my camera on it's own was fine, particularly when converted to mono so the slight noise there was looked more like grain!

Lol! I just did 4gb worth of photos in there on FF with 17mm wide angle lens!!

See that's not fair, yours are a ton better than mine! The first and last (kings X) I like particularly. Going back, taking the tripod...

These were handheld!.... Its a KILLER venue!!

I Burnt the edges as my Canon has a dirty sensor!

Give me a shout if you want some company... I could easily sink a few pints.... Or a Coffee..

BTW... These were edited in Silver efex!

I can see Kings X becoming the new British Museum. When the Great Court opened, the first few shots taken did well, but after that fatigue set in and everyone yawned because they had seen it all before. Today it is near to impossible to take anything there which will not be considered hackneyed. It is best to get to these new locations early.

heh British Museum was one I was about to recommend, I still think it looks good
